VACANCY! Assistant Accountant

Due to ongoing growth of long term clients, we urgently require an Assistant Accountant to join our small team, based in Paisley.

Due to ongoing growth, we’re recruiting for an experienced Assistant Accountant.

Role:

Using a mix of Quickbooks, Xero, FreeAgent and BTC; the role will include

• Preparing monthly & quarterly management accounts
• Drafting statutory accounts
• Drafting corporation tax computations
• Drafting sole trader accounts
• Drafting personal self assessments
• Processing journals, prepayments & accruals
• Preparing VAT returns
• Balance sheet & bank reconciliations
• Adhoc bookkeeping and accounts work

We are looking to appoint an Accounts Senior who’ll manage their own portfolio of clients but also help to develop junior members of staff.

This role is perfect for someone looking to step into a more hands-on, meaningful role for a small firm with a fantastic reputation for looking after its staff and clients.

The ideal candidate will be someone who works well as part of a small team and has the initiative, motivation and communication skills required to manage a group of clients with varying deadlines and requirements.

To be considered for the position you must have experience working at this level in an accountancy practice/firm.

Particulars of Employment:

Hours of Work: Open to negotiation, preferably 9am – 5pm, Mon – Fri
Hours per Week: 35
Contract: Permanent
Rate of Pay: £27,000 per annum
Pension: 5% paid by employer, 3% employee contribution
Holidays: 30 days (including public holidays and 2 gifted ‘duvet days’)

We are C Allan & Son Accountancy Services, and we urgently need an Accounts Assistant to join our ever-expanding practice.

In order to be considered for interview you must have the following:

– Minimum 2 years’ experience in public practice (i.e. in an accountancy firm/practice)
– Experience of accountancy software e.g. Quickbooks, although full training and support will be provided if required
– Good Microsoft Office knowledge including Excel, Outlook and Word
– Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
– Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise jobs is key
– The successful candidate will be reliable, hardworking, able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team
– This position would suit a career orientated, trustworthy individual with a strong work ethic; looking to further their career

Key points of the role:

– You will manage your own portfolio of clients, which you will be solely responsible for
– Producing monthly management accounts
– Preparation of statutory accounts from client records to Partner review
– Preparing and reviewing corporation and personal tax returns
– Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
– Preparation of Financial Statements for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and charitable organisations
– Preparation of Corporate and Personal Tax Returns
– Submission of documents to Companies House; HMRC and other bodies i.e. OSCR
– Corresponding with various organisations on behalf of clients
– Dealing with client queries in a professional and timely manner
– Ad hoc admin duties

The hours for this role are 32.5 per week, the role is permanent (after probation) and the salary is £21,200 to £22,200 (dependant upon experience).
